Linen Care Guideline
Ensuring your event tablecloths are spotless and elegant requires proper linen care. Whether it's a last-minute wine spill or regular maintenance, knowing how to clean linen is essential. Can you wash linen? Yes, but the method depends on the fabric type. Washing linen correctly extends its life and maintains its beauty for your events. Here are detailed care instructions for linen fabrics to help your linens look their best.
Line Storage Tips
- Store Safely Until Use: Keep linens in original bags or cases to protect from dust and damage.
- Optimal Storage Conditions: Store in a cool, dry, dark location to avoid sunlight and moisture damage.
- Use Protective Covers During Transport Shield linens from dirt and damage during transit.
General Linen Care
- Bleach Use: Bleach is safe for white tablecloths, overlays, runners, and sashes but not recommended for colored linens. Mixing dark/bright colors with whites is also not recommended.
- Color Care: Our colored tablecloths will not fade, even after multiple uses and washings, as long as bleach is avoided.
- Water Temperature: Use warm water with regular detergent in the washing machine to maintain color vibrancy.
- Color Separation: Similar to regular clothing, always wash linens with similar colors to avoid color transfer.
- Avoid High Heat: When using a dryer, select a low-temperature setting to prevent shrinkage.
- Drying and Ironing: Remove linens from the dryer while still warm to minimize wrinkles. Iron with low heat if necessary. Fold and store linens properly after ironing.
- Avoid Fabric Softeners: They can leave oily spots and make linens appear limp.
- Immediate Stain Treatment: Wash stains as soon as possible to prevent them from becoming permanent.
Fabric-Specific Care Instructions
- Polyester: Our polyester mimics the luxurious feel of cotton or linen and is easy to clean. Wash care instructions for linen made from polyester include using mild detergent in cool water. Tumble dry on low to medium heat and iron on a medium setting if needed.
- Sequin: Hand-sewn onto taffeta backing, avoid machine washing. Treat stains from the back to prevent sequin unraveling. Spot clean with mild detergent, rinse in cool water, and hand wash if necessary. Lay flat or hang to dry, and steam on a medium setting with the sequin side down. Dry cleaning is recommended.
- Spandex: Spandex is machine washable; however, check for stains before washing. For stains, pre-treat with liquid laundry detergent for up to 30 minutes. Machine wash in cool water and tumble dry on low heat, removing promptly once dry. Ironing is generally unnecessary due to the fabric's stretch, but if needed, iron quickly without staying in one spot too long.
- Satin: Machine wash in warm water on a delicate cycle and tumble dry on low heat. Iron on medium to low heat if necessary to maintain its smooth appearance.
- Jute & Burlap: Air outdoors for 48 hours to eliminate odor. Use a slightly damp washcloth for surface cleaning. Iron on low heat with a buffer sheet. Dry cleaning is recommended.
- Velvet & Flocking: Dry clean or spot clean to maintain texture. For spot cleaning, rub a moist cloth in one direction. Use a small amount of delicate detergent if needed. Flock fabric should be hand washed gently and hung to dry. Professional dry cleaning is recommended.
- Pintuck, Crinkle & Leaf: Machine wash pintuck and crinkle taffeta in cool or warm water. Dry on a cool setting. Hand wash leaf petal taffeta in cold water or machine wash on a gentle cycle. Hang to dry or dry clean.
- Rosette: Dry cleaning is highly recommended. Iron gently on medium heat with steam to remove wrinkles. Avoid machine washing or hand washing to protect the rosettes.
- Scuba: Machine wash in cold water on a gentle cycle. Avoid bleach and fabric softeners. Air dry or use a low heat setting in the dryer.
